Practice

Practice

Trudge holds regular practices at least 3 days per week, generally from 6pm-8pm or 8pm-10pm. We practice with the goal of improving ourselves and becoming a competitive team for the tournaments that we attend. Practice is usually held at Anderson Field (see map below). The best way to know when and where practice is, is to keep updated with the email list and add the team calendar below to your personal calendar.

The first few weeks of practice will be more of an instructional period concentrating on throws, the rules of ultimate, and offensive and defensive strategies. After that, the pace will pick up and we will focus on improving our individual and team skills to be more competitive in tournament play.

When the weather becomes unsuitable for us to go outside, we hold conditioning practice in the armory, labeled as the “Alumni Sports and Recreation Center” above.

What To Bring

  • Water
  • Both light and dark shirts for scrimmaging. Your shirt must be CLEARLY a light or a dark, NOT gray, yellow, or anything obscure. A white shirt and a darker colored shirt is ideal.
  • Cleats (it is strongly recommended that you buy some, if you are looking for suggestions or purchasing help, feel free to  ask current team members)

If you have classes, we understand. Come on the days when your schedule permits. Keep in mind that you are welcome to part of a practice if you can’t make the whole thing.

Freshmen, during your student orientation session you’ll be planning your schedule. If you have access to a computer during/before orientation, there is a student created online scheduler. It is an essential tool, and good to know about going into your first year. So, if you want to play, try to leave that time free.
